Portlock Wall or China Wall is one of the most exhilarating dive sites near Maunalua Bay, Oahu with high currents, drift diving, caverns and small caves. It is an underwater continuation of the three hundred foot high volcanic cliffs just above the surface near Koko Head. Another name is Spitting Caves because of the forceful ocean swells that spits the water far into the air.
The strong current provides an attractive place for larger marine life such as white tip reef sharks but also colorful reef fish such as butterfly fish, wrasse and trumpet fish are seen here regularly. Drift diving is mostly done from east to west along the up to fifty foot high drop-off.
